On Sunday, May 31, the State Border Guard officers prevented 65 people from illegally crossing the Latvia-Belarus state border, in total this year 4455 people have been prevented from illegally crossing the state border.
22 violators were detected at the external borders and within the country. Nine border violators were detected at the external borders.
• Entry into Latvia denied to one foreigner
At the Terekhova border checkpoint, one Russian citizen was denied entry into Latvia because the foreigner did not have a valid visa or residence permit. The person was returned to the country of departure.
• Exit from the country denied to three Latvian citizens
At the Riga Airport border checkpoint, one Latvian citizen departing for the United Kingdom was detected, who did not have a valid travel document, while at the Riga Airport border checkpoint, two minor Latvian citizens departing for Russia were detected, who did not have a notarized power of attorney from at least one parent (EU citizen) to leave the country. The persons were denied exit from the country.
State Border Guard officials have held 13 individuals administratively liable or prevented them from crossing the border for violations in the field of vehicle and vessel operation – four citizens of Belarus, three citizens of Moldova, one citizen of Russia, one citizen of Kazakhstan, one citizen of Romania, one citizen of Turkey, one citizen of Ukraine, and one citizen of Uzbekistan.
