On Tuesday, March 31, the State Border Guard officers prevented 49 people from illegally crossing the Latvian-Belarusian state border, in total this year 322 people have been prevented from illegally crossing the state border.

In total, 42 violators were detected at the external borders and within the country out of  whom 20 were detected at the external borders.

• Entry into Latvia denied to 15 foreigners

At the border control points of Terehova, Grebņeva, Pāternieki and Riga Airport, entry into Latvia was denied to one citizen of Kazakhstan because the foreigner did not have a valid visa or residence permit, two Moldovan, one Ukrainian and one Georgian citizens because the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their stay, one Georgian citizen because the person is prohibited from entering and staying in the territory of the Schengen countries, while four Russian, two Ukrainian, one Moldovan, one Belarusian and one Romanian citizens were denied entry into Latvia for security reasons. The persons were returned to their countries of departure.

• Violations of residence conditions were detected for one foreigner

At the border control point of Terekhova, one Russian citizen departing from Latvia was detected who had violated the residence conditions — he did not have a valid visa or residence permit. The person was held administratively liable.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence regulations were detected for seven persons – three Pakistani, two Russian, one Guinean and one Indian citizen.

For violations in the field of operation of vehicles and vessels, State Border Guard officials have held 15 persons administratively liable or prevented them from crossing the border – two Belarusian, two Lithuanian, two Latvian, two Russian, two Kazakh, and one Estonian, Moldovan, Romanian, Tajik and Ukrainian citizens.
