On Saturday, May 30, the State Border Guard officers prevented 48 people from illegally crossing the Latvia-Belarus state border, in total this year 4390 people have been prevented from illegally crossing the state border.

In total, 34 violators were detected at the external borders and within the country out of  whom 12 were detected at the external borders.

• One foreigner with forged documents detected

During a document check, one Lithuanian citizen was detected at the Ventspils port, who presented a forged foreign Lithuanian citizen identification card to the border guards. Criminal proceedings have been initiated for using forged documents and concealing his identity.

• Three foreigners denied entry to Latvia

At the Riga Airport border control point, one Uzbek citizen was denied entry to Latvia because the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of entry and residence, at the Terehova border control point, one Russian citizen was denied entry to Latvia because the foreigner did not have a valid travel document, while at the Grebneva border control point, one Belarusian citizen was denied entry to Latvia for security reasons. The persons were returned to their countries of departure.

• Violations of residence conditions detected for two foreigners

Two Moldovan citizens were detected at the border control point of the Riga Airport, who had violated the residence conditions (exceeded the visa-free period of residence) in the Schengen area countries. The persons have been held administratively liable.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence rules were detected for eight persons – three Estonians, two Ukrainians, one Lithuanian, one Sudanese and one Egyptian citizen.

For violations in the field of operation of vehicles and vessels, State Border Guard officials have held 14 persons – three Kazakhs, three Belarusians, two Russians, two Kyrgyz, one Latvian, one Lithuanian, one Azerbaijani and one Moldovan citizen – administratively liable or have prevented them from crossing the border.
