On Tuesday, June 2, the State Border Guard officers prevented 72 people from illegally crossing the Latvia-Belarus state border, in total this year 4577 people have been prevented from illegally crossing the state border.
25 violators were detected at the external borders and within the country. 11 border violators were detected at the external borders.
• One foreigner with forged documents detected
During profiling, one Somali citizen was detected at the border control of the Riga Airport, who presented a forged foreign identification card of a Dutch citizen to the border guards. Criminal proceedings have been initiated for the use of forged documents and concealment of his personal identity.
• Entry into Latvia denied to four foreigners
At the Riga border control point, one citizen of Uzbekistan was denied entry into Latvia because the foreigner did not have a valid visa, as well as one citizen of Georgia because the foreigner could not justify entry and the existing purposes and circumstances, at the Terehova border control point, entry into Latvia was denied to a Belgian citizen and one citizen of Russia due to circumstances. The persons were returned to their countries of departure.
• Residence violations detected for one foreigner
One Uzbek citizen was detected at the border control point of the Riga Airport, who had violated the residence permit (did not have a valid visa or residence permit) in the Schengen area countries. The person was held administratively liable.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, one Lithuanian citizen was found to have violated entry or entry regulations.
In the field of operation of vehicles and vessels, the State Border Guard has held 13 persons administratively liable or officials for crossing the border – five citizens of Belarus, two citizens of Russia, two citizens of Germany, one citizen of Latvia, one citizen of France, one citizen of Kazakhstan and one citizen of Moldova.
