On Thursday, April 2, the State Border Guard officers prevented 44 people from illegally crossing the Latvia-Belarus state border, in total this year 380 people have been prevented from illegally crossing the state border.

In total, 35 violators were detected at the external borders and within the country out of  whom 18 were detected at the external borders.

• Entry into Latvia denied to six foreigners

At the border control points of Pāternieki, Terehova and Riga Airport, one citizen of Uzbekistan and one citizen of Moldova were denied entry into Latvia because the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of entry and residence, while two citizens of Belarus and two citizens of Russia were denied entry into Latvia for security reasons. The persons were returned to their countries of departure.

• Violations of the conditions of residence were detected for two foreigners

At the border control points of Pāternieki and Riga Airport, one citizen of Moldova and one citizen of Uzbekistan were detected who had violated the conditions of residence (exceeded the period of residence specified in the visa-free regime, did not have a valid visa or a residence permit). The persons were held administratively liable.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of the rules of entry or residence were detected for one Estonian citizen.

For violations in the field of operation of vehicles and vessels, State Border Guard officials have held 16 persons administratively liable or prevented them from crossing the border – four citizens of Belarus, three of Uzbekistan, two of Moldova, and one each of Latvia, Bulgaria, Italy, Kazakhstan, Great Britain, Serbia, and Tajikistan.
