On Wednesday, April 2, State Border Guard officers prevented 55 people from illegally crossing the Latvian-Belarusian state border. In total of 415 people have been prevented from illegally crossing the state border this year.

For humanitarian reasons seven people have been admitted this year.

In total, 43 violators were detected at the external borders and within the country, out of whom 17 were detected at the external borders.

• Five foreigners denied entry into Latvia

At the Grebņeva, Pāternieki and Riga Airport border control points, one Moldovan citizen was denied entry into Latvia because the foreigner had already used the specified period of residence in the territory of the EU member states, one Tajik, one Brazilian and one Moldovan citizen because the information provided by the foreigners about the intended purpose and conditions of residence was not justified, and another Russian citizen for security reasons. The persons were returned to their countries of departure.

• Violations of residence conditions were detected for five foreigners

One Serbian, one Kyrgyz, two Uzbek and one Tajik citizen were detected at the Grebneva, Pāternieki and Riga Airport border control points, who had violated the residence conditions (exceeded the visa-free regime or visa-specified residence period, did not have a valid visa or residence permit) in the Schengen area countries. The persons have been held administratively liable.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence rules were detected for five persons – one Russian, one Estonian, one Kyrgyz, one Tajik and one Uzbek citizen.

For violations in the field of operation of vehicles and vessels, State Border Guard officials have held 21 persons administratively liable or prevented them from crossing the border – five citizens of Belarus, three of Moldova, three of Serbia, two of Uzbekistan, two of Russia, two of Lithuania, one of Kazakhstan, one of Romania, one of Latvia and one of Ukraine.
