On Monday, September 29, State Border Guard officers prevented 0 people from illegally crossing the Latvian-Belarusian state border, in total this year 10,240 people have been prevented from illegally crossing the state border.
For humanitarian reasons 25 people have been admitted this year.
In total, 43 violators were detected at the external borders and within the country out of whom 26 were detected at the external borders.
• One foreigner with forged documents detected
One Uzbek citizen leaving Latvia was detected at the Pāternieki border control point, who presented a forged Uzbek technical inspection certificate to the border guards. The person has been held administratively liable. The forged document has been seized.
• Entry into Latvia denied to 13 foreigners
At the border control points of Grebņeva, Terehova, Pāternieki and Riga Airport, entry into Latvia was denied to three Uzbek citizens because the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of entry and residence, one Ukrainian citizen because the foreigner did not have a valid visa or residence permit, as well as three Belarusian, two Moldovan, two Bulgarian and two Russian citizens for security reasons. The persons were returned to their countries of departure.
• Violations of residence conditions were found for five foreigners
At the border control point of Riga Airport, three Uzbek and two Turkish citizens were found to have violated the residence conditions (no valid visa or residence permit, exceeding the period of residence specified in the visa) in the Schengen area countries. The administrative proceedings in the cases of Turkish citizens were not initiated, the other persons were held administratively liable.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence regulations were detected for three persons – one Algerian, one Eritrean and one British citizen.
For violations in the field of operation of vehicles and vessels, State Border Guard officials have held 14 persons administratively liable or officials for crossing the border – administratively liable or prevented them from crossing the border for violations in the field of operation of vehicles and vessels.
