On Friday, May 29, the State Border Guard officers prevented 67 people from illegally crossing the Latvia-Belarus state border, in total this year 4341 people have been prevented from illegally crossing the state border.

In total, 40 violators were detected at the external borders and within the country out of  whom 24 were detected at the external borders.

• Nine foreigners denied entry into Latvia

At the Riga Airport border control point, four Azerbaijani and two Uzbek citizens were denied entry into Latvia because the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of entry and residence, as well as one Georgian citizen because the foreigner is prohibited from entering and residing in the territory of the Schengen area countries, while at the Grebņeva and Pāternieki border control points, one Russian and one Belarusian citizen were denied entry into Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to their countries of departure.

• Violations of residence conditions were found for four foreigners

Three Belarusian and one Uzbek citizens were found at the Pāternieki and Riga Airport border control points who had violated the residence conditions (no valid visa or residence permit, exceeding the period of residence specified in the visa) in the Schengen area countries. The persons were held administratively liable.

• Two Latvian citizens denied exit from the country

At the border control point of Riga Airport, one Latvian citizen departing for Turkey was detected, whose travel document is not valid for departure to Turkey, as well as one minor Latvian citizen departing for Serbia, who did not have at least one parent's notarized power of attorney for departure from the country. The persons were denied exit from the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence regulations were detected for two persons – one Estonian and one Finnish citizen.

For violations in the field of operation of vehicles and vessels, State Border Guard officials have held 14 persons – four citizens of Kazakhstan, three Moldovans, one Latvian, one Russian, one Belarusian, one Estonian, one French, one British and one Ukrainian – administratively liable or have denied crossing the border.
