On Sunday, March 29, the State Border Guard officers prevented 18 people from illegally crossing the Latvian-Belarusian state border, in total this year 260 people have been prevented from illegally crossing the state border.
In total, 32 violators were detected at the external borders and within the country out of whom 13 were detected at the external borders.
• Entry into Latvia denied to 1 foreigner
At the border control point of the Riga Airport, while profiling passengers in the public area during immigration control, a Ukrainian citizen was detected, who is wanted by the law enforcement agencies. The person was detained and handed over to State Police officers.
• Entry into Latvia denied to 6 foreigners
At the Grebņeva, Terehova, Pāternieki and Riga Airport border control points, one Russian citizen was denied entry into Latvia because the foreigner did not have a valid visa or residence permit, while two Russian, one Uzbek, one Moldovan and one German citizens were denied entry into Latvia due to security reasons. The aforementioned persons were returned to their countries of departure.
• Violation of residence conditions detected for one foreigner
At the Grebņeva border control point, one Mongolian citizen departing from Latvia was detected who had violated the conditions of residence — no visa or residence permit. The person was held administratively liable.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence rules were detected for one Lithuanian citizen.
For violations in the field of operation of vehicles and vessels, State Border Guard officials have held 18 persons administratively liable or prevented them from crossing the border – five citizens of Belarus, two of Russia, two of Kyrgyzstan, two of Serbia, two of Tajikistan, and one citizen each of Latvia, Estonia, Kazakhstan, Romania, and Uzbekistan.
