On Wednesday, July 29, the State Border Guard officers prevented 87 people from illegally crossing the Latvia-Belarus state border, in total this year 8992 people have been prevented from illegally crossing the state border.
39 violators were detected at the external borders and within the country, and 8 border violators were detected at the external borders.
• One Estonian citizen wanted by the police was detained
One Estonian citizen entering from Russia was detected at the Grebneva border checkpoint and is being sought by the police. The person was detained and handed over to State Police officials.
• Three foreigners denied entry to Latvia
One Serbian, one Moldovan and one Belarusian citizen were denied entry to Latvia at the Grebneva and Pāternieki border checkpoints for security reasons. The persons were returned to their countries of origin.
• One foreigner was found to have violated the conditions of residence
One Russian citizen was found at the Grebneva border checkpoint who had violated the conditions of residence (did not have a valid travel document) in the Schengen area countries. The person was held administratively liable.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or regulations were detected for 16 persons – three Lithuanian, three Estonian, two Russian, two Indian, two Nepalese, two Uzbek and two Pakistani citizens.
State Border Guard officials have held 15 individuals administratively liable or prevented them from crossing the border for violations in the field of vehicle and vessel operation – four Lithuanian, four Moldovan, one Belarusian, one Estonian, one Kazakh, one Ukrainian, one Uzbek, one Latvian and one German citizens.
