On Tuesday, July 29, State Border Guard officers prevented 42 people from illegally crossing the Latvian-Belarusian state border. A total of 7,810 people have been prevented from illegally crossing the state border this year.
For humanitarian reasons 15 people have been admitted this year.
In total, 63 violators were detected at the external borders and within the country out of whom 30 were detected at the external borders.
• One foreigner with forged documents was detected
One Ukrainian citizen leaving Latvia was detected at the Grebņeva border control point, who presented a forged Ukrainian driver's license to the border guards. Criminal proceedings have been initiated for the use of forged documents. The forged document was seized as part of the criminal proceedings.
• Entry into Latvia denied to seven foreigners
At the border control points of Terehova, Grebņeva, Pāternieki and Riga Airport, entry into Latvia was denied to three Russian and one Moldovan citizens because the foreigners did not have valid travel documents, one Moldovan citizen because the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of entry and residence, as well as one Belarusian and one Russian citizen for security reasons. The persons have been returned to their countries of departure.
• Violations of residence conditions were found for 11 foreigners
At the border control points of Terekhova, Grebņeva and Pāternieki, six Russian, four Belarusian and one Kazakh citizens were found to have violated the residence conditions (no valid travel document, no valid visa or residence permit, exceeding the period of residence specified in the visa) in the Schengen area countries. The administrative violation cases of one Russian and one Belarusian citizen were not initiated, the other persons were held administratively liable.
• One Latvian citizen was denied exit from the country
One Latvian citizen was detected at the Terekhova border checkpoint leaving for Russia, who did not have a valid travel document. The person was denied exit from the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence regulations were detected for 12 persons – six Moldovan, three Lithuanian, two Latvian and one Algerian citizen.
For violations in the field of operation of vehicles and vessels, the State Border Guard officials have held 21 people administratively liable or prevented them from crossing the border – six Moldovan, three Latvian, three Belarusian, one Estonian, one Italian, one Kazakh, one Kyrgyz, one Polish, one Serbian, one Tajik, one Uzbek and one German citizen.
