On Sunday, September 28, State Border Guard officers prevented 0 people from illegally crossing the Latvian-Belarusian state border. A total of 10,240 people have been prevented from illegally crossing the state border this year.
For humanitarian reasons 25 people have been admitted this year.
• Nine foreigners denied entry to Latvia
At the Grebņeva, Terehova, Pāternieki and Riga Airport border control points, one Belarusian citizen was denied entry to Latvia because the foreigner did not have a valid travel document, one Ukrainian citizen because the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of entry and residence, as well as three Belarusian, two Moldovan, one Ukrainian and one Russian citizens for security reasons. Persons returned to their countries of origin.
• One Latvian citizen denied exit from the country
One Latvian citizen departing for Montenegro was detected at the border control point of Riga Airport, who did not have a valid travel document. The person was denied exit from Latvia.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence regulations were detected for seven persons – four Lithuanian and three Estonian citizens.
For violations in the field of operation of vehicles and vessels, State Border Guard officials have held 19 persons administratively liable or officials for crossing the border – seven Belarusian, four Moldovan, two Latvian, two Romanian, one Austrian, one Belgian, one Kyrgyz and one Finnish citizen.
