On Thursday, May 28, the State Border Guard officers prevented 90 people from illegally crossing the Latvia-Belarus state border, in total this year 4274 people have been prevented from illegally crossing the state border.

In total, 46 violators were detected at the external borders and within the country out of  whom 15 were detected at the external borders.

• Five foreigners denied entry into Latvia

At the Riga Airport border control point, one citizen of Uzbekistan and one citizen of Georgia were denied entry into Latvia because the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of entry and stay, while at the Grebņeva and Pāternieki border control points, one citizen of Ukraine, one citizen of Russia and one citizen of Moldova were denied entry into Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to their countries of departure.

• Violations of residence conditions were found for four foreigners

Four citizens of Uzbekistan were found at the Riga Airport border control point who had violated the residence conditions (no valid visa or residence permit, exceeding the period of stay specified in the visa) in the Schengen area countries. The persons were held administratively liable.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence regulations were detected for 18 persons – seven Ukrainians, five Lithuanians, two Bangladeshis, two Indians, one Estonian and one Uzbek citizen.

State Border Guard officials have held 13 persons – three Belarusians, two Estonians, two Kazakhs, one Lithuanian, one French, one Kosovo, one Polish, one Romanian and one Tajik citizens – administratively liable or prevented them from crossing the border for violations in the field of operation of vehicles and vessels.
