On Tuesday, July 28, the State Border Guard officers prevented 15 people from illegally crossing the Latvia-Belarus state border, in total this year 8905 people have been prevented from illegally crossing the state border.
41 violators were detected at the external borders and within the country, and 15 border violators were detected at the external borders.
• One foreigner with forged documents detected
During immigration control, one Afghan citizen departing from Latvia was detected at the Liepāja port, who presented a forged Italian residence permit to the border guards. Criminal proceedings have been initiated for the use of forged documents.
• Four foreigners denied entry to Latvia
At the Riga Airport border control point, one Tajik and one Ukrainian citizen were denied entry to Latvia because the foreigners could not justify the purpose and circumstances of their entry and residence, while at the Grebņeva and Pāternieki border control points, two Belarusian citizens were denied entry to Latvia for security reasons. The persons have been returned to their countries of departure.
• Violations of residence conditions detected for four foreigners
Three Uzbek and one Moldovan citizen were detected at the border control point of Riga Airport, who had violated the residence conditions (no valid visa or residence permit, exceeding the period of residence specified in the visa, exceeding the period of residence specified in the visa-free regime) in the Schengen area countries. The administrative violation case of one Uzbek citizen was not initiated, the other persons were held administratively liable.
• Two Latvian citizens were denied exit from the country
One Latvian citizen traveling to Turkey and one to Great Britain was detected at the border control point of Riga Airport, who did not have valid travel documents. The persons were denied exit from the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or regulations were detected for 10 persons – three Azerbaijani, three Estonian, two Lithuanian, one Russian and one Ukrainian citizens.
State Border Guard officials have held 16 individuals administratively liable or prevented them from crossing the border for violations in the field of vehicle and vessel operation – two Latvian, two Russian, two Belarusian, two Lithuanian, two Moldovan, two Chinese, one US, one Israeli, one Kazakh and one British citizen.
