On Friday, March 27, the State Border Guard officers prevented 23 people from illegally crossing the Latvian-Belarusian state border, in total this year 218 people have been prevented from illegally crossing the state border.
In total, 37 violators were detected at the external borders and within the country out of whom 16 were detected at the external borders.
• Entry into Latvia denied to 6 foreigners
At the border control points in Pāternieki, Terehova and Riga Airport, one citizen of Uzbekistan was denied entry into Latvia because of the inability to justify the purpose and conditions of his planned residence, while three Moldovan, one Russian and one Kazakh citizens were denied entry into the country for security reasons. The persons were returned to their countries of departure.
• One foreigner was found to have violated the conditions of stay
At the border control point in Riga Airport, one British citizen was found to have exceeded the visa-free period of residence in the territory of the Schengen countries by 23 days. The person was held administratively liable.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, six persons were found to have violated the rules of entry or residence – four Lithuanians, one Estonian and one Afghan citizen.
For violations in the field of operation of vehicles and vessels, State Border Guard officials have held 15 persons administratively liable or prevented them from crossing the border – four citizens of Moldova, two of Latvia, two of Belarus, two of Uzbekistan, and one each of Russia, Kazakhstan, Romania, Serbia and Tajikistan.
