On Tuesday, February 27, officials of the State Border Guard did not detect any attempts to illegally cross the Latvian-Belarusian border by persons, while a total 58 persons have been stopped from illegally crossing the state border during this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 33 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

6 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 3 foreigners

at the Terehova and the Grebņeva Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Russia due to security reasons, as well as to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travelling documents. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner

one citizen of Kirgizstan was detected at the Pāternieki Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The person was subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 5 persons – two citizens of Lithuania, two – of Russia and one - of Estonia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 22 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – nine citizens of Belarus, four – of Moldova, three – of Uzbekistan, two – of Kirgizstan, one – of Latvia, one – of Russia, one – of Kazakhstan and one – of Germany.
