On Friday, September 26, State Border Guard officers prevented six people from illegally crossing the Latvian-Belarusian state border. A total of 10,222 people have been prevented from illegally crossing the state border this year.
For humanitarian reasons 22 people have been admitted this year.
In total, 68 violators were detected at the external borders and within the country out of whom 32 were detected at the external borders.
• Entry into Latvia prohibited for 18 foreigners
At the border checkpoints of Terehova, Grebņeva, Pāternieki and Riga Airport, entry into Latvia was prohibited for one Russian citizen because the foreigner did not have a valid document, one Colombian citizen because the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of entry and residence in Russia, one Russian citizen because the foreigner, five Russian citizens, five Russian citizens, two Moldovans, one Kazakh and one German citizen for security reasons. The aforementioned persons were returned to their countries of origin.
• Residence violations detected for nine foreigners
Three Russian, three Uzbek, two Tajik and one Georgian citizens were detected at the border control points in Terehova, Pāternieki and Riga Airport, who had violated the residence conditions (no valid visa or residence permit, no valid travel document, the period of residence specified in the visa was exceeded) in the Schengen area countries. The persons have been held administratively liable.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, entry or rule violations were detected for nine persons – three Somali, two Russian, one Latvian, one Belarusian, one Turkish and one Egyptian citizens.
For violations in the field of operation of vehicles and vessels, State Border Guard officials have held 27 persons administratively liable or officials for crossing the border - seven citizens of Belarus, four of Russia, four of Latvia, three of Moldova, two of Ukraine, two of Estonia, two of Lithuania, one of the Netherlands, one of Serbia and one of Tajikistan.
