On Thursday, September 25, State Border Guard officers prevented 9 people from illegally crossing the Latvian-Belarusian state border. A total of 10,216 people have been prevented from illegally crossing the state border this year.
For humanitarian reasons 22 people have been admitted this year.
In total, 69 violators were detected at the external borders and within the country out of whom 36 were detected at the external borders.
• Entry into Latvia denied to 25 foreigners
At the border control points of Terehova, Grebņeva, Pāternieki and Riga Airport, entry into Latvia was denied to eight citizens of Uzbekistan and one Indian because the foreigners could not justify the purpose and circumstances of entry, two Russian citizens because the foreigners did not have a valid visa or residence permit, as well as five Moldovan, four Russian, three Ukrainian, one French and one German citizens due to security reasons. The persons have been returned to their countries of departure.
• Violations of residence conditions were found for five foreigners
At the border control points of Pāternieki and Riga Airport, two citizens of Belarus, one Azerbaijani and one Uzbek were found to have violated the residence conditions (no valid visa or residence permit, overstayed) in Schengen area countries, as well as one Russian citizen without a valid travel document. The administrative violation case of the Azerbaijani citizen was not initiated, while the other persons were held administratively liable.
• One person was denied exit from the country
A Latvian citizen traveling to Dublin was detected at the Riga Airport border control point, who did not have a valid travel document (surname changed). The person was denied exit from Latvia.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence regulations were detected for eight persons – two Eritrean, one Russian, one Indian, one Kazakh, one Syrian, one Ukrainian and one Egyptian citizens.
For violations in the field of operation of vehicles and vessels, State Border Guard officials have held 25 persons administratively liable or prevented them from crossing the border – 10 Belarusians, four Russians, two Italians, two Romanians, as well as one citizen each of Latvia, Lithuania, Mongolia, the Netherlands, Serbia, Uzbekistan and Sweden.
