On Saturay, July 25, the State Border Guard officers prevented 68 people from illegally crossing the Latvia-Belarus state border, in total this year 8719 people have been prevented from illegally crossing the state border.

43 violators were detected at the external borders and within the country, and 20 border violators were detected at the external borders.

• Entry into Latvia denied to eight foreigners

At the border checkpoints of Terekhova, Grebņeva and Riga Airport, entry into Latvia was denied to three citizens of Uzbekistan because the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of entry and residence, one Russian citizen because the foreigner did not have a valid travel document, as well as two Moldovan, one Belarusian and one German citizens due to security reasons. The persons were returned to their countries of departure.

• Violations of residence conditions were found for six foreigners

At the border checkpoints of Grebņeva, Pāternieki and Riga Airport, three Russian, one Moldovan, one Kyrgyz and one Uzbek citizens were found to have violated the residence conditions (no valid visa or residence permit, no valid travel document, exceeding the visa-free period of residence, exceeding the visa-limited period of residence) in the Schengen area countries. The persons were held administratively liable.

• One Latvian citizen denied exit from the country

A Latvian citizen traveling to Egypt was detected at the Riga Airport border control point, and she did not have a valid travel document. The person was denied exit from the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence regulations were detected in three persons – two Ukrainian and one Somali citizen.

State Border Guard officials have held 20 individuals administratively liable or prevented them from crossing the border for violations in the field of vehicle and vessel operation – four Latvian, four Belarusian, four Moldovan, one Russian, one Estonian, one Azerbaijani, one French, one Kyrgyz, one Romanian, one Tajik and one Ukrainian.
