On Wednesday, September 24, State Border Guard officers prevented 8 people from illegally crossing the Latvian-Belarusian state border. A total of 10,207 people have been prevented from illegally crossing the state border this year.
For humanitarian reasons 22 people have been admitted this year.
• Entry into Latvia denied to 14 foreigners
At the border control points of Terehova, Grebņeva, Pāternieki and Riga Airport, entry into Latvia was denied to three citizens of Uzbekistan, one citizen of Kyrgyzstan and one citizen of Ukraine, because the foreigners could not justify the purpose and circumstances of entry, one citizen of Uzbekistan, who was subject to a ban on entry and residence in the territory of the Schengen area countries, and one citizen of Turkey, because the foreigner did not have a valid residence permit in the territory of the member states. In turn, entry was denied to three citizens of Moldova and four citizens of Ukraine for security reasons. The persons have been returned to their countries of departure.
• Violations of residence conditions detected for two foreigners
At the border control point of Pāternieki, two citizens of Belarus were detected who had violated the period of residence specified in their visa in the territory of the Schengen area countries. In both cases, the persons have been held administratively liable.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence regulations were detected for five persons – one Belarusian, one Georgian, one Moroccan, one Pakistani and one Egyptian citizen.
For violations in the field of operation of vehicles and vessels, State Border Guard officials have held 19 persons administratively liable or prevented them from crossing the border – seven Belarusian, four Lithuanian, four Moldovan, as well as one Romanian, Serbian, Ukrainian and German citizen – administratively liable or prevented them from crossing the border.
