On Friday, July 24, the State Border Guard officers prevented 27 people from illegally crossing the Latvia-Belarus state border, in total this year 8651 people have been prevented from illegally crossing the state border.

34 violators were detected at the external borders and within the country, and 15 border violators were detected at the external borders.

• One foreigner with forged documents detected

During immigration control, the border control of Riga Airport identified a Bangladeshi citizen departing from Latvia, who presented the border guards with a forged Indian passport and a forged Belgian residence permit. Criminal proceedings have been initiated for the use of forged documents.

• One wanted Latvian citizen detained

A Latvian citizen entering from Georgia was identified at the border control point of Riga Airport, who is wanted by the police. The person was detained and handed over to State Police officers.

• Entry into Latvia denied to two foreigners

At the Riga Airport border control point, entry into Latvia was denied to one Uzbek citizen because the foreigner did not have a valid visa and residence permit, while at the Grebneva border control point, entry into Latvia was denied to one Russian citizen for security reasons. The persons have been returned to their countries of origin.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or regulations were detected for five persons – two Estonian, one Russian, one Lithuanian and one Egyptian citizens.

State Border Guard officials have held 14 individuals administratively liable or prevented them from crossing the border for violations in the field of vehicle and vessel operation – two Latvian, two Belarusian, two Moldovan, two Uzbek, one Russian, one Kazakh, one Serbian, one Ukrainian, one German and one Chinese citizens.
