On Tuesday, September 23, State Border Guard officers prevented 27 people from illegally crossing the Latvian-Belarusian state border. A total of 10,199 people have been prevented from illegally crossing the state border this year.
For humanitarian reasons 22 people have been admitted this year.
In total, 50 violators were detected at the external borders and within the country out of whom 25 were detected at the external borders.
• 13 foreigners denied entry into Latvia
At the Terehova, Grebņeva, Pāternieki and Riga Airport border checkpoints, one Indian citizen was denied entry into Latvia because the foreigner could not justify the purpose and circumstances of entry, as well as six Moldovan, four Russian, one Belarusian and one Ukrainian citizens due to security reasons. The persons were returned to their countries of origin.
• Violations of residence conditions were detected for four foreigners
Three Belarusian and one Russian citizen were detected at the border control points of Terekhova, Grebņeva, Pāternieki and Riga Airport, who had violated the period of residence specified in the visa in the territory of the Schengen area countries. In all cases, the persons were held administratively liable.
• One person was denied exit from the country
One minor Latvian citizen traveling to Istanbul was detected at the border control point of Riga Airport, who did not have at least one parent's notarized consent for the child to leave the country independently. The person was denied exit from Latvia.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence rules were detected for five persons – one Latvian, one Russian, one Macedonian, one Ukrainian and one Uzbek citizen.
For violations in the field of operation of vehicles and vessels, State Border Guard officials have held 20 persons administratively liable or prevented them from crossing the border – five citizens of Belarus, five citizens of Lithuania, three citizens of Ukraine, two citizens of Uzbekistan, as well as one citizen each of Latvia, Russia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria and Tajikistan.
