On Saturday, September 19, the State Border Guard officers prevented 26 people from illegally crossing the Latvia-Belarus state border, in total this year 11178 people have been prevented from illegally crossing the state border.
33 violators were detected at the external borders and within the country, and 21 border violators were detected at the external borders.
• Foreign national found with forged documents
At the Grebņeva border control point, an Estonian citizen departing for Russia was found to be carrying a forged Lithuanian driver's license, which he presented to border guards. Criminal proceedings have been initiated regarding the use of forged documents, and the forged document has been seized.
• Entry into Latvia denied to 13 foreign nationals
At the Riga Airport border control point, entry into Latvia was denied to two citizens of Uzbekistan because they could not justify the purpose and circumstances of their entry and stay. Meanwhile, at the Terehova, Grebņeva, and Pāternieki border control points, entry was denied to one Russian citizen lacking a valid visa or residence permit, as well as to three Finnish, two Lithuanian, two German, two Russian, and one Belarusian citizen due to security concerns. The individuals were returned to their countries of departure.
• Violation of stay conditions detected for one foreign national
At the Riga Airport border control point, a citizen of Tajikistan was found to have violated the conditions of stay (lacking a valid visa or residence permit) in Schengen Area countries. The individual was held administratively liable.
During internal immigration control operations, violations of entry or residence regulations were detected involving four individuals — two citizens of Estonia and two citizens of Lithuania.
The State Border Guard officials have held 8 individuals administratively liable or prevented them from crossing the border for violations in the field of vehicle and vessel operation – three citizens of Belarus, two of Latvia, one of Kazakhstan, one of Kyrgyzstan, and one of Great Britain.
