On Friday, September 19, State Border Guard officers prevented 35 people from illegally crossing the Latvian-Belarusian state border. A total of 10,018 people have been prevented from illegally crossing the state border this year.

For humanitarian reasons 22 people have been admitted this year.

In total, 61 violators were detected at the external borders and within the country out of whom 29 were detected at the external borders.

• Entry into Latvia denied to 14 foreigners

At the border control points of Terehova, Grebņeva, Pāternieki and Riga Airport, entry into Latvia was denied to two Georgian citizens because the foreigners could not justify the purpose and circumstances of entry, as well as to eight Russian, two Ukrainian, one Belarusian and one Kazakh citizens due to security reasons. The persons have been returned to their countries of origin.

• Violations of residence conditions were detected for four foreigners

At the border control point in Pāternieki and the Riga Airport, one citizen of Belarus, one citizen of Kazakhstan, one citizen of Russia and one citizen of Uzbekistan were detected who had violated the residence conditions (did not have a valid visa or residence permit) in the territory of the Schengen area countries. The administrative proceedings in the case of the Uzbek citizen were not initiated, while the other persons were held administratively liable.

• One person was denied exit from the country

At the border control point in Pāternieki, one minor Latvian citizen was detected leaving Latvia, who did not have at least one parent's notarized consent for the child to leave the country. The person was denied exit from Latvia.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence regulations were detected for eight persons – two Somali, one Latvian, one Russian, one Estonian, one Armenian, one Ethiopian and one Ukrainian citizen.

For violations in the field of operation of vehicles and vessels, State Border Guard officials have held 24 persons administratively liable or prevented them from crossing the border – nine Belarusians, three Latvians, three Russians, three Uzbeks, as well as one Lithuanian, British, Moldovan, Serbian, Finnish and Ukrainian citizen.
