On Thursday, September 18, State Border Guard officers prevented 13 people from illegally crossing the Latvian-Belarusian state border. A total of 9,983 people have been prevented from illegally crossing the state border this year.
For humanitarian reasons 22 people have been admitted this year.
In total, 88 violators were detected at the external borders and within the country out of whom 56 were detected at the external borders.
• Entry into Latvia denied to 44 foreigners
At the border control points of Terehova, Grebņeva, Pāternieki and Riga Airport, entry into Latvia was denied to one Russian citizen because the foreigner did not have a valid travel document, four Uzbek and one Azerbaijani citizens because the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of entry and residence, one Israeli citizen because the foreigner had already resided in the territory of the Schengen member states for 90 days in the previous 180 days, as well as 33 Ukrainian, one German, one Russian, one Portuguese and one Belarusian citizens for security reasons. The persons were returned to their countries of departure.
• Violations of residence conditions detected for seven foreigners
Three Russian, two Belarusian, one Moldovan and one Uzbek citizens were detected at the Pāternieki and Riga Airport border control points, who had violated the residence conditions (no valid visa or residence permit, no valid travel document, exceeding the period of residence specified in the visa, exceeding the period of residence specified in the visa-free regime) in the Schengen area countries. The administrative violation case of one Russian citizen was not initiated, the other persons were held administratively liable.
• One Latvian citizen was denied exit from the country
One Latvian citizen was detected at the Pāternieki border control point, who was traveling to Belarus and did not have a valid travel document. The person was denied exit from the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence regulations were detected for six persons – one Russian, one Lithuanian, one Moldovan, one Polish, one Sudanese and one Ukrainian citizen.
For violations in the field of operation of vehicles and vessels, the State Border Guard officials have held 26 persons administratively liable or prevented them from crossing the border – four Moldovan, four Russian, three Lithuanian, three Romanian, three Ukrainian, two Belarusian, one Estonian, one Kazakh, one Polish, one Serbian, one Uzbek, one German and one Spanish citizens.
