On Friday, the 18th of November,the  State Border Guard officers had detected 54 offenders at the external borders and within the country.

31 border offenders were detected at the external borders, including:

  • One wanted person apprehended

One Latvian citizen entering Latvia, who is being searched by the police, was detected at the Riga Airport Border Control Point. The person was detained and handed over to the State Police.

  • 12 foreign nationals refused entry to Latvia

Two citizens of Armenia and one citizen of Ukraine were refused entry to Latvia at the Vientuli, Terehova, Silene, Grebneva and Riga Airport Border Control Points because the foreigners did not have a valid visa or residence permit. Another eight Russian and one Moldovan citizen have been refused entry to Latvia due to security reasons. They were returned to the country of departure.

  • 11 foreigners were found in breach of residence conditions

At the Pāternieki, Vientuli and Riga Airport border control points, three Kazakh, two Uzbek, two Ukrainian, two Azerbaijani, one Israeli and one Russian citizens were found to have violated the conditions of stay (overstayed the period of stay l in the visa or visa-free regime, absence of a valid visa or residence permit) in the Schengen area countries. No administrative offence proceedings were initiated against the Israeli, Russian and one Kazakh citizen, the others were held administratively liable.

In the course of immigration control measures within the country, six persons were found to be in breach of the rules of entry or residence: three Estonian, two Lithuanian and one Tajik citizen.

For infringements in the field of operation of vehicles and vessels, State Border Guard officials held 17 persons administratively liable or refused to cross the border - eight Belarusian, two Latvian, two Estonian, two Georgian, two Serbian and one Kazakh citizen.
