On Wednesday, 18 June, State Border Guard officials prevented 57 people from illegally crossing the Latvian-Belarusian state border. A total of 5,324 people have been prevented from illegally crossing the state border this year.
A total of 12 people have not been prevented from crossing the border this year on humanitarian grounds.
43 offenders were detected at the external borders and within the country. 20 border violators were detected at the external borders.
• 8 foreigners denied entry to Latvia
at the Terehova, Pāternieki and Riga Airport border control points, two Russian and one Kyrgyz citizen were denied entry into Latvia for not having valid visas or residence permits, two Moldovan citizens because they did not have valid travel documents, as well as one Russian, one Kazakh and one Belarusian citizen for security reasons. The individuals were returned to their countries of departure.
• Violations of residence conditions were detected in two foreigners
At the Riga Airport border control point, two Uzbek citizens were found to have violated the conditions of stay (they did not have valid visas or residence permits) in the Schengen area countries. No administrative proceedings were initiated in the cases of the Uzbek citizens.
• One Latvian citizen denied departure from the country
At the Riga Airport border control point, a minor Latvian citizen departing for the United Arab Emirates was found to be without a notarized power of attorney from the other parent for the child to leave the country. The person was denied departure from the country.
During immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence regulations were detected in eight persons – two Russian, two Estonian, two Ukrainian, one Latvian and one British citizens.
For violations in the field of vehicle and vessel operation, State Border Guard officials brought administrative charges or denied border crossing to 15 persons – three from Belarus, three from Latvia, two from Lithuania, two from Kazakhstan, two from Moldova, one Ukrainian, one Uzbek and one German citizen.
