On Thursday, September 17, the State Border Guard officers prevented 26 people from illegally crossing the Latvia-Belarus state border, in total this year 11121 people have been prevented from illegally crossing the state border.
32 violators were detected at the external borders and within the country, and 14 border violators were detected at the external borders.
• Entry into Latvia denied to seven foreign nationals
At the Riga Airport border control point, entry into Latvia was denied to one citizen of Uzbekistan and one citizen of India because they could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; meanwhile, at the Terehova, Grebņeva, and Pāternieki border control points, entry into Latvia was denied to three citizens of Belarus and two citizens of Russia for security reasons. The individuals were returned to their countries of departure.
• Violations of residency conditions detected for three foreign nationals
At the Grebņeva and Riga Airport border control points, two citizens of Armenia and one citizen of Belarus were found to have violated residency conditions (lacking valid visas or residence permits, or exceeding the permitted duration of stay) in Schengen Area countries. Administrative proceedings were not initiated regarding the Armenian citizens, whereas the Belarusian citizen was held administratively liable.
During internal immigration control operations, violations of entry or residence regulations were detected involving nine individuals — four citizens of Estonia, two of India, and one each from Russia, Honduras, and Uzbekistan.
The State Border Guard officials have held 9 individuals administratively liable or prevented them from crossing the border for violations in the field of vehicle and vessel operation – two citizens of Latvia, and one each from Belarus, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Uzbekistan, and Germany.
