On Tuesday, September 16, State Border Guard officers prevented 25 people from illegally crossing the Latvian-Belarusian state border. A total of 9,955 people have been prevented from illegally crossing the state border this year.

For humanitarian reasons 22 people have been admitted this year.

In total, 42 violators were detected at the external borders and within the country out of whom 19 were detected at the external borders.

• Five foreigners denied entry into Latvia

Three Russian, one Belarusian and one Moldovan citizen were denied entry into Latvia at the Terehova, Grebņeva and Pāternieki border checkpoints for security reasons. The persons have been returned to their countries of origin.

• Violations of residence conditions detected for four foreigners

Two Russian, one British and one Turkish citizens were detected at the border control points of Terehova and Riga Airport, who had violated the residence conditions (no valid visa or residence permit, exceeding the period of residence specified in the visa, no valid travel document, exceeding the period of residence specified in the visa-free regime) in the Schengen area countries. The persons have been held administratively liable.

• Two Latvian citizens were denied exit from the country

One minor Latvian citizen traveling to Montenegro was detected at the border control point of the Riga Airport, who did not have at least one parent's notarized consent for the child to leave the country independently, as well as one Latvian citizen traveling to Great Britain, whose travel document was not valid for departure to Great Britain. The persons were denied exit from the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence regulations were detected for six persons – one Lithuanian, one Algerian, one Armenian, one Moroccan, one Uzbek and one Moldovan citizen.

For violations in the field of operation of vehicles and vessels, the State Border Guard officials have held 17 people administratively liable or prevented them from crossing the border – administratively liable or prevented them from crossing the border for violations in the field of operation of vehicles and vessels.
