On Sunday, April 13, State Border Guard officers prevented 44 people from illegally crossing the Latvian-Belarusian state border. A total of 877 people have been prevented from illegally crossing the state border this year.

For humanitarian reasons seven people have been admitted this year.

In total, 36 violators were detected at the external borders and within the country out of whom 15 were detected at the external borders.

• One foreigner with forged documents was detected

One Kyrgyz citizen entering Latvia with a truck and a trailer was detected at the Terehova border control point, who presented a forged technical inspection certificate for the trailer to the border guards. The person has been held administratively liable.

• Entry into Latvia has been denied to three foreigners

At the Grebneva border checkpoint, entry into Latvia was denied to two Tajik citizens because the foreigners did not have a valid visa or residence permit, while at the Terehova border checkpoint, entry into Latvia was denied to one Moldovan citizen for security reasons. The persons have been returned to their countries of departure.

• Violations of residence conditions were detected for two foreigners

At the Terehova and Riga Airport border checkpoints, one Kazakh and one British citizen were detected who had violated the residence conditions (exceeded the period of residence specified in the visa, exceeded the period of residence specified in the visa-free regime) in the Schengen area countries. The administrative proceedings in the case of the British citizen were not initiated, the Kazakh citizen was held administratively liable.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for one Lithuanian citizen.

For violations in the field of operation of vehicles and vessels, State Border Guard officials have held 20 persons administratively liable or prevented them from crossing the border – five citizens of Uzbekistan, two citizens of Belarus, two citizens of Estonia, two citizens of Moldova, two citizens of Romania, two citizens of Ukraine, one citizen of Latvia, one citizen of Russia, one citizen of Armenia, one citizen of Kyrgyzstan, and one citizen of Serbia.
