On Saturday, April 12, State Border Guard officers prevented 67 people from illegally crossing the Latvian-Belarusian state border. A total of 833 people have been prevented from illegally crossing the state border this year.
For humanitarian reasons seven people have been admitted this year.
In total, 66 violators were detected at the external borders and within the country out of whom 27 were detected at the external borders.
• Two foreigners with forged documents were detected
At the Grebņeva border control point, an Uzbek citizen was detected leaving Latvia with a truck and a trailer with forged technical inspection certificates, while at the Terehova border control point, a Kyrgyz citizen was detected entering Latvia with a truck and trailer, who presented a forged vehicle technical inspection certificate to the border guards. The persons have been held administratively liable. The forged documents were seized as part of the administrative process.
• Entry into Latvia denied to six foreigners
At the Terekhova border checkpoint, entry into Latvia was denied to one Russian and one Ukrainian citizen because the foreigners did not have a valid visa or residence permit, as well as to one Moldovan citizen because the foreigner did not have a valid travel document; at the Riga Airport border checkpoint, entry into Latvia was denied to one Georgian citizen because the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of entry and residence; while at the Paternieki border checkpoint, entry into Latvia was denied to two Belarusian citizens for security reasons. The persons have been returned to their countries of departure.
• Violations of residence conditions were found for four foreigners
At the Grebņeva, Paternieki and Riga Airport border checkpoints, two citizens of Uzbekistan, one citizen of Ukraine and one citizen of Belarus were found who had violated the residence conditions (no valid visa or residence permit, exceeding the visa-free period of residence) in the Schengen area countries. The administrative violation case of one Ukrainian citizen was not initiated, the other persons were held administratively liable.
• One Latvian citizen denied exit from the country
At the border control point of Riga Airport, one minor Latvian citizen was detected leaving for Georgia, who did not have a notarized power of attorney from his parents for the child to leave the country independently. The person was denied exit from the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence regulations were detected for six persons – four Lithuanian, one Russian and one British citizen.
For violations in the field of operation of vehicles and vessels, State Border Guard officials have held 33 persons administratively liable or prevented them from crossing the border – five citizens of Belarus, five of Moldova, four of Russia, four of Uzbekistan, three of Lithuania, three of Serbia, two of Latvia, one of Estonia, one of Bosnia and Herzegovina, one of Georgia, one of Kazakhstan, one of Romania, one of Ukraine and one of Germany.
