On Friday, April 11, State Border Guard officers prevented 68 people from illegally crossing the Latvian-Belarusian state border. In total this year 766 people have been prevented from illegally crossing the state border.
For humanitarian reasons seven people have been admitted this year.
In total, 38 violators were detected at the external borders and within the country out of whom 11 were detected at the external borders.
• Five foreigners denied entry into Latvia
At the Terehova and Pāternieki border control points, one Moldovan citizen was denied entry to Latvia because the foreigner did not have a valid travel document, as well as two Belarusian, one Russian and one Kazakh citizens were denied entry for security reasons. The aforementioned persons have been returned to their countries of origin.
• Violations of residence conditions were detected for two foreigners
One Kyrgyz and one Russian citizen were detected at the Grebņeva and Pāternieki border control points, who had violated the residence conditions (no valid visa or residence permit, exceeding the period of residence specified in the visa) in the Schengen area countries. The persons have been held administratively liable.
• One Latvian citizen was denied exit from the country
One minor Latvian citizen traveling to Turkey was detected at the Riga Airport border control point, who did not have a notarized power of attorney from his parents for the child to leave the country on his own. The person was denied exit from the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence rules were detected for eight persons – five Estonian, two Russian and one Ukrainian citizens.
For violations in the field of operation of vehicles and vessels, State Border Guard officials have held 19 persons administratively liable or prevented them from crossing the border – four Russian, four Lithuanian, three Moldovan, two German, one Belarusian, one Estonian, one Belgian, one Georgian, one Kyrgyz and one Serbian citizen.
