On Wednesday, 10th of August, the State Border Guard officers had detected 54 offenders at the external borders and inside the country.

At the external borders 25 border offenders were detected, including:

  • 10 foreigners refused entry to Latvia

One Russian, one Belarusian and one Azerbaijan citizen were refused entry to Latvia at the Terehova, Vientuli and Riga Airport border control points because they did not have a valid visa or residence permit, six Moldovan and one Georgian citizen because they could not justify the purpose of their entry and stay. The persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • 10 foreigners were found in breach of residence conditions

Eight Russian, one Ukrainian and one Georgian citizens were found at the Grebneva, Vientuli and Riga Airport border control points to have violated the conditions of stay (overstay of visa or visa-free regime,absence of valid visa or residence permit) in Schengen area countries. No administrative proceedings were initiated against the six Russian nationals, the others were held administratively liable.

  • One Latvian citizen was refused exit from the country

One Latvian citizen was found at the Riga Airport border control point without a valid travel document (the document was invalid due to a change of surname). The person was refused exit from the country.

In the course of immigration control measures within the country, six persons were found to be in breach of the rules on entry or residence - three Estonian, one Russian, one Kazakh and one Ukrainian citizen.

For infringements in the field of operation of vehicles and vessels, State Border Guard officials held 23 persons administratively liable or refused to cross the border - five Belarusian, five Latvian, three Ukrainian, two Kazakh, two Russian, two Moldovan, one Bulgarian, one Estonian, one Lithuanian and one German citizen.
