On Thursday, April 10, State Border Guard officers prevented 101 people from illegally crossing the Latvian-Belarusian state border. In total this year 698 people have been prevented from illegally crossing the state border.

For humanitarian reasons seven people have been admitted this year.

In total, 37 violators were detected at the external borders and within the country out of whom 18 were detected at the external borders.

• One Latvian citizen who is wanted has been detected

One Latvian citizen entering Latvia, who is wanted by the police, was detected at the border control point of the Riga Airport. The person has been detained and handed over to State Police officers.

• Entry into Latvia has been denied to seven foreigners

Two Moldovan citizens were denied entry into Latvia at the Terehova border checkpoint because the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of entry and residence, while one Serbian, one Tajik and one British citizen were denied entry into Latvia at the Pāternieki and Riga Airport border checkpoints because the foreigners did not have valid travel documents, as well as one Belarusian and one Moldovan citizen due to security reasons. The persons were returned to their countries of departure.

• Violations of residence conditions were found for seven foreigners

Five Uzbek and two Tajik citizens were found at the Riga Airport border checkpoint who had violated the residence conditions (no valid visa or residence permit, exceeding the period of residence specified in the visa) in the Schengen area countries. The persons were held administratively liable.

• One Latvian citizen has been denied exit from the country

One Latvian citizen traveling to Ireland was detected at the border control point of Riga Airport, who is prohibited from leaving the country. The person was denied exit from the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence regulations were detected for seven persons – two Estonian, two Russian, two Ukrainian and one Algerian citizens.

For violations in the field of operation of vehicles and vessels, State Border Guard officials have held 12 persons administratively liable or prevented them from crossing the border – two Moldovan, two Romanian, one Latvian, one Belarusian, one Estonian, one Kazakh, one Serbian, one Ukrainian, one Uzbek and one German citizen.
