On Friday, March 1, 15 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 111 persons have been stopped this year.

Due to humanitarian reasons, 0 persons were not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; a total 1 person has been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 34 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

19 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

At the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, when performing passenger profiling one citizen of Syria entered Latvia, who presented to border guards a forged Belgian residence permit, was detected. Criminal proceedings initiated for using the forged document.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 7 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Russia and two – of Ukraine due to security reasons; to one citizen of Russia, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, as well as

to two citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel documents. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 8 foreigners

four citizens of Moldova, two – of Uzbekistan, one – of Russia and one – of Georgia were detected at the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia (female), who was not in possession of valid travel document, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 2 persons – one citizen of Democratic Republic of Congo and one - of Pakistan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 13 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Belarus, three - of Moldova, one – of Estonia, one – of Lithuania, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Kirgizstan, one – of Uzbekistan and one – of Germany.
