On Monday, September 7, in Jēkabpils Municipality, border guards, in cooperation with officials of the State Police, detained a person who was transporting persons who had illegally crossed the State border. State Police officials stopped a Mercedes-Benz vehicle in the Ābeļi Parish area. The vehicle was being driven by a Polish citizen. When the vehicle was stopped, approximately six people reportedly fled and ran into a forest. Search operations were immediately launched, including with the assistance of a dog handler and a service dog, as well as a drone.
