On 26 November 2025, the State Border Guard of Latvia carried out a rotation of experts within the framework of the 12th operational period of Frontex, the European Border and Coast Guard Agency.

After rotation, 63 Latvian officers, including 4 dog handlers with service dogs, will continue service duties in Estonia, Poland, Serbia, Romania, Albania, Greece, Italy, France, Germany, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Slovakia, Moldova and Georgia. Their task will be border surveillance, patrolling and obtaining operational information in close cooperation with colleagues from other European Union Member States.

At the same time, 44 Frontex Standing Corps officers from Poland, Estonia, Lithuania, Sweden, Norway, France, Austria, Germany, Slovakia and Netherlands, including 1 Ukrainian observer, are deployed in the structural units of the State Border Guard of Latvia responsible for border checks and border surveillance, using off-road patrol vehicles, including Frontex vehicles, as well as three Frontex Mobile Surveillance Systems.

The daily work of the State Border Guard of Latvia demonstrates Latvia’s commitment and practical support to Europe’s common security, helping to ensure order and security in those operational areas where it is most needed.
